Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence director Marc Brackett, PhD presented his work to UCLA audience

The Nathanson Family Resilience Center was delighted to partner with the UCLA Pritzker Center for Strengthening Children and Families in welcoming Marc Brackett, PhD to the Luskin Center on October 16th for a discussion on his new book “Permission to Feel: Unlocking the Power of Emotions to Help Our Kids, Ourselves, and Our Society Thrive”.

After a warm introduction by Drs. Tyrone Howard and Patricia Lester, Dr. Brackett introduced the RULER Approach to Social and Emotional Learning that he developed at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. Through personal stories and open discussion with the audience, Dr. Brackett explained that social emotional learning cannot be a static and isolated curriculum; it must be fully integrated into the school and greater community systems.
