Maegan Sinclair Cortez serves as the Director of Research and Evaluation at the Division of Population Behavioral Health. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from UC Santa Barbara where she studied abroad for a year in Costa Rica and volunteered at an agency that helped provide community-level resources to low-income families. This experience fueled her desire to work in a field that aims to promote healthy lifestyles and the prevention of disease and injury. She attended New York University where she received her Master’s degree in Public Health. She specializes in the application of technology to track and manage patient data at the aggregated level to better understand how programs, interventions, and systematic changes can be implemented to improve the health of individuals, populations and communities. Prior to her appointment to UCLA, she worked as an Epidemiologist at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in the Bureau of Vital Statistics.
