Dr. Susan Finley has nearly two decades of experience working in higher education. As a professor, she taught psychology at the graduate and undergraduate levels for colleges and universities in New York and Southern California. Dr. Finley has also worked as a career counselor and course developer. She continues to be actively involved in the community doing mental health advocacy work in suicide prevention and has completed trainings at the UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center. Her research interests include distance education, telemental health counseling, mindfulness, and resilience. Her personal interest in the arts has led her to take up the hobby of screen-printing, and she particularly enjoys visiting galleries and museums.

Dr. Finley received her Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Pepperdine University, an MS degree in Mental Health Counseling from Pace University, and a BA degree in Media Studies with a minor in Psychology from Fordham University in New York City, where she was a scholar athlete. She is proud to join UCLA’s Prevention Center of Excellence as Curriculum Developer and looks forward to developing her skills in facilitation.
